Twelve Hidden Gems of Thailand 2014
The Tourist Authority of Thailand is doing everything in its power to attract tourists from around the world to Thailand. This year they have started a completely new and unique tourism campaign called “Discover Thainess”. The main goal of this campaign is to help any tourist interested in visiting Thailand what to do and what to see when in Thailand. Luckily there are so many things to do and see in Thailand that it won’t be much difficult for the tourist authority to attract tourists. The latest innovative creation in this campaign is the promotion of 12 exceptional and less known locations in Thailand. Each of these places represents the main features and treasures of Thailand (people, society and culture) in a unique way. There are certainly dozens of interesting and less popular places in Thailand but they have decided to promote: Lampang, Buriram, Phetchabun, Samut Songkhram, Ratchaburi, Chanthaburi, Trat, Chumphon, Loei, Nan, Trang and Nakhon Si Thammarat. It is interesting to point out that Thailand is divided in 77 provinces which are located in five different regions – north, north-east, east, central and south. Each of these regions has unique historical, cultural and natural attractions. However, in the past few decades ten separate locations are attracting most of the tourists that travel in Thailand – Bangkok, Chang Mai, Krabi, Hua Hin, Phuket, Pattaya, Koh Samui, Phang-nga, Hat Jai and Ayutthaya. This is the main reason why Thailand is trying to attract visitors to check some of its other hidden gems.
In the north people can visit Lampang a place where the time looks like it has stopped a long time ago, Phetchabun with its misty mountains and hills, Nan also known as the most romantic place in Thailand. Northeast region has Buriram a place with Khmer heritage, Loei a place with most pleasant climate in the country. The central area has Samut Songkhram with its beautiful river life and Ratchaburi with art communities. In the south there is Trang a place known for the good food and amazing nature, Chumphon with long sandy beaches and Nakhon Si Thammarat and its temples and natural attractions. Finally in the east – Trat a destination where you can find many beautiful islands and beaches, Chanthaburi – rich in Thai fruits.
