Planning a Trip to Thailand – A Short Travel Guide

If you are planning to travel to Thailand you have probably asked some of your friends or relatives that have visited this country for some tips and advice. However, whatever others are saying about Thailand and whatever you read about this country before you actually begin your trip you will probably forget once you step on Thai soil. The language, culture and mentality is so much different from the ones found on other continents and even compared to some Asian countries that you will most likely be shocked. But, this doesn’t mean that you have to be worried. The land of smiles will allow any visitor to adjust quickly.

Probably the first thing you will notice when you come Thailand is the images of the current and some of former kings. Thai people respect their king so it is a good idea to be respectful too.

More than 50% of foreigners use Bangkok as their starting point for exploration of Thailand. Chaos is probably the first feeling you will experience when you enter this megalopolis. However, despite the huge number of residents and tourists this city actually functions quite well. Bangkok is known for rush hours so try to use some alternative transportation like Skytrain or a boat. This type of transportation is very cheap. If you choose to get somewhere with a cab or tuk-tuk make sure to make a deal before you use them because many drivers will try to make huge profit from your ride when they find out that you are a foreigner. There are dozens of temples worth visiting and you can find a complete list in some tourist guide. The main advice is to dress properly when entering these temples.

If you are planning to visit some other places, we advise you take a look at Ayutthaya historic park and Chiang Mai – a city with amazing surrounding (both located on the north). Those who are interested in beaches and parties should visit Phuket Island, Koh Samui and Pattaya.

There are dozens of places that you can visit in Thailand and each of them is unique. So, try to stay for a longer period of time or plan to visit this magical place once again!
